Wolves in Extremadura.

What do you know about wolves? May that they are like big dogs; maybe that they starred in many traditional tales (The three pigs, Little Red Ridding Hood, the shepherd and the wolf...) On this report I will write about wolves in our land.

Many years ago there were a lot of wolves in Extremadura. It was dangerous to go out of the town without a big knife, a rifle or a pistol, because hungry wolves used to attack people. Wolves also killed cattle (sheep, cows, pigs), being a source of devastation and poverty.

In the 1970s wolves were wiped out in Extremadura. But now they are protected, and their population is slowly growing. Actually it's possible to find wolves in northem regions like Sierra de Gata, las Hurdes, Traslasierra, Jerte's valley...

Many people love wolves, and they would like to see them here again. Many others think that wolves are going to destroy the cattle industry. What do you think about them? Is it good or bad to have wolves again?
