Forest fires.

Forest fires are fires that burn in forest areas. Lightning can start them but usually caressles people do. There are about 15.000 fires in Spain every year. They can spread very fast (23 Km an hour) destroying everything as they move. Sadly, the majority of fires are intentioned.

Natural disasters.

This is the begining of a series related to natural disasters. I'll publish one each week during this fisrt trimester

Volcanoes are explosions that happen from oppenings in the Earth's surface. Most volcanoes are located in the Pacific rim; also in other places like Tenerife, Italy or Iceland. When volcanoes erupt, they spew magma, lava and ash. There are more than 1.500 volcanoes on Earth.

King Alfred story.

An English legend.  I like it very much.

Many years ago, in Old Britain, there was a king called Alfred. He was defending his country against barbarian invaders. He had lost a battle, and he ran away, crossing planes, mountains, rivers and valleys. Finally, he found a hut, and he went inside it.

An old woman lived on there. She didn’t know that Alfred was the king; but se gave him food, a seat next to the fireplace and a corner to sleep that night. Alfred was grateful, and he thought: “I will give this woman a prize if I return to my castle safe and sound".

The day after, Alfred was sitting next to the fire. The woman was in the forest collecting wood. She had said to Alfred: “Please, look after some cakes I have let in the oven” Alfred told her: “Don’t worry, woman. I’ll take care of them!” But he was a bit scatterbrained, so he forgot the cakes. When the old woman came back to her hut, she discovered that the cakes were burnt. She pursued him, screaming and striking the royal head with a cane!

Nutrition System

Today we have made a "bilingual" class about body organs. I've compiled the vocabulary that you should know:

Intestines (small intestine and large intestine): Organ which assimilates nutrients for the organism
Brain: Organ which thinks (It rules all that happens in our body)
Blood: Red liquid which transports nutrients in our body.
Veins: small tubes whereby blood flows.
Heart: Organ which pumps the blood in our body
Breast (tits): female organs which feed newborn babies.
Lungs: Organs which provide oxygen to our body.
Liver: Organ which filters / shynthesizes chemical substances in our organism.
Kidneys: Organs which filter our blood when it's dirty.
